On receipt of your instruction to remove all data, access to all of your pictures saved up to that time is blocked. Moreover, you are removed from all mailing lists. For technical reasons, however, your data will only be finally deleted during the next, scheduled, database update. This may take up to 14 days. During this time it is unlikely, but nonetheless possible, that you may still receive emails from Pixum despite your instruction to have your account deleted.

Registration, user name and password

Each of your albums and all pictures therein contained are protected by a user name determined by you and by a personal password chosen by you. There is no possibility for other users to view any albums created by you and the pictures therein contained without having both of these pieces of information. For this reason you should choose carefully when selecting your user name and password and never pass them on to third parties. When selecting your password, be aware that short or common combinations increase the risk of third parties gaining access to your personal data and images.

Public photo albums

You may select to make an album and all pictures therein contained publicly accessible. In that case every user of Pixum can view your album or those pictures made publicly accessible by you. Of course, your personal data cannot be viewed.

Photo albums for friends

If you wish to grant access to your pictures only to a number of friends and acquaintances chosen by you, use the “invite“ function and send out personal invitations via email to view a specific album. The recipient of this email only has to click on the link therein contained and can thus access the album chosen by you and all its contents. An additional password is not necessary.

Each person you have invited may be “uninvited“ by you at any time. You withdraw the access rights to the album chosen by you from any such user by using the function “uninvite“.

Friends whom you invite to view your Pixum albums must register with Pixum. This is for your own safety, so that you can follow precisely who may/can view your pictures.

Prohibited content and protection of minors

Pixum regularly checks all pictures uploaded onto our website for prohibited contents in order to conform with the legal requirements of Germany and with our own ethical standards. Pictures in violation of the law (such as pornographic images or glorification of violence) are deleted without prior notice. Pixum reserves the right to pass on matters that breach the law to the prosecution service.

Images that do not breach the law but may still be harmful to minors or may be in breach of copyrights and/or personal rights of third parties, are set to “private“ and are not capable of being set to “public”.

If a user, repeatedly and despite notification, breaches the terms of use, we reserve the right to bar that user from accessing Pixum without further notice and pass on their data to the prosecution service, if applicable, as well as deleting all images.

Changes to the privacy statement

In the event of Pixum having to change this privacy statement, all changes will be published on this page and are effective from the time of publication. In this case, Pixum reserves the right to inform you about the changes in a personal email, regardless of whether you have subscribed to a newsletter service or not.
